Rowing

Novice to Nationals

Newer to the sport, starting in late March of 2021, I spent most of my time in a single, specifically a tubby which is a wider boat, so it is easier to stay balanced. During the Summer of 2021, I rowed almost every boat class: a quad, an eight, a double, and a pair. It was a wonderful experience. I have now completed my first full year of the crew. Some videos taken during this time period are linked below. It is very challenging and equally as rewarding. My goal for Spring 2022 was to qualify for youth nationals which I am proud to say was a success. I am taking the 4+ to nationals. I am attending, US Rowing's High-Performance Camp to continue my training this summer. My goal is to continue to improve in order to eventually compete in college at a Division 1 level.

November 2021, I am stroking a women's quad in one of our final pieces of the day against the men's quad. Although we did not win, the boat was moving efficiently and it was a lot of fun.

A rowing race between 8 different boats at Pocock Rowing Association. It was the first boat to break open water. I am in the second quad in 3 seat.

This was filmed in December of 2021. I was doing about 10 hard strokes at a sub 2 split. Watching it back it emphasized some of the things I am currently working on such as posture, not over compressing at the catch and not shooting the slide.

Husky Open April 2nd, 2022 in the close boat in seat 2. This was the last 200 meters of the race and we took first in our heat. Very proud of my boat and our placement! One thing I reflected on from seeing videos of the race is how I lose my posture during high-intensity pieces, so I plan to work on that in the future.
